Mastermind

Bill Wright came up with the concept of “Mastermind” after he had been interrogated by the gestapo during the 2nd World War. Mastermind first appeared on the TV in 1972, and Andy Stagles has been the lighting director from 2010 – 2019.

Mastermind is a studio gameshow, We make between 4 and 5 shows per day and usually have 4 recording blocks per year.

Although the wide shot looks lovely, Mastermind is all about the contestant close-ups. The majority of the time, all we see on camera is the contestant sat in the dark. It is very important that we keep the singles beautifully clean and crisp, creating beautiful portraiture for every contestant. Most people think that there is 1 spotlight on the chair (Between you and I – there are 9!).
